HTC Hero with Google Android

Well as much as I loved my Samsung Instinct I recently upgraded my mobile phone to the HTC Hero, a touchscreen phone with Google Android. Sprint was offering $150 rebate after one year rather than after contract expires. After seeing the reviews on the Sprint website and hearing all the rave about Google Android I was pretty much sold.
Now that I actually own the HTC Hero let me say… I absolutely love this phone!
I’d have to say that one my favorite features of this phone is the synchronizing of my Gmail, Google Voice phone contacts and Google calendar. Once I installed the free Google Voice application the phone now gives me the option to use Google Voice or not when placing the call rather than going through the GV web page.
Some other points of interest about the HTC Hero would be the ability to connect your phone book to the Facebook profile of your contacts, searching the web by speaking your search term and the 5MP camera is very good with a nice choice of settings including zoom (but no flash).
The Android Market has 1000’s of free apps. On the HTC Hero simply click the Market icon on the home screen and search by category, popularity, or most recent! In some upcoming posts I’ll discuss some of my favorite free Google Android apps!
Bottom line… the HTC Hero is an incredible mobile phone… the touchscreen is very fast, coupled with the Google factor and simplicity of use you will NOT be disappointed with this phone! I will say however this phone does use the battery fairly quickly thankfully the charger can be used in the wall outlet or in a USB port of a computer.
